What is TXT Messaging?
The name for Verizon Wireless' 2-way text messaging service. TXT Messaging provides you with an alternative to voice communication when text is preferred. TXT Messaging is a fast, fun and silent way to communicate. TXT Messaging lets you send and receive text messages to other wireless users and e-mail addresses directly from your phone. It allows you to keep your communication short and/or private and is an economical alternative to voice communication. TXT Messaging and vtext.com are both automatically included with every new digital price plan activation.

Is TXT Messaging available to Pre-Pay subscribers?
Yes. It's just $.05 per message. Mobile Messenger service is automatically included with every new [FREEUP®] activation. For more information on [FREEUP], please click here [FREEUP].com.

Who can I send messages to?
Anyone with another TXT Messaging capable phone in the United States and Canada, by sending the message to a 10-digit mobile number. Also, to any eMail address in the world.

How can I send a message?
A message can be sent from a 2-way capable digital phone, any eMail system with an Internet connection, the Verizon Wireless website (http://www.vtext.com), or through a PC using a paging/alarm/or text messaging software package. Messages to subscribers on other carrier's networks can be sent from Verizon Wireless 2-way TXT Messaging capable phones but cannot be sent from the Verizon Wireless messaging web site. Please refer to About the Service for further details on how to send a text message.

What is the difference between a text message and an alert?
The difference between an alert and a text message is as follows:

An alert is a notification that appears on the handset communicating that some type of information has been delivered. An alert can be any of the following:

A notification of a text message

A notification of a voicemail message

A TXT Alert about today's weather, a horoscope, stocks, news, sports scores, etc.

A text message is a combination of words sent to a digital phone, for example:

A message originated by one person and sent to another digital handset. This type of message can be originated from any one of the following sources:

"2-way text messaging capable" phone

eMail application (i.e. Outlook, Hotmail., etc.)

vtext.com - VZW's text messaging website

PC messaging software (TAP dial-up modem)

2-way pager

If I am on a call, will I still receive text messages?
Verizon Wireless supports the ability to Talk and Text simultaneously, but this can vary on phones. If you are on a call, some phones will allow you to continue receiving messages while others will deliver messages after the call is completed.

How many text messages can I store on my phone at one time?
Memory varies per phone - refer to your manufacturer's "Users Guide" for details. The number of messages that can be stored is determined by the amount of capacity available on your phone.
