What is roaming?
Roaming is the ability to place and receive calls on cellular networks outside your home service area.

I can't roam, what could be the problem?
Can't roam? You may be traveling in one of the areas where Fraud Protection has been set up on the network. You'll need to enter your PIN. In many Verizon Wireless cities, your phone automatically locks within one hour after you turn it off. When roaming, you must re-enter your PIN before placing a call. Please contact Verizon Wireless Customer Service by pressing *611 (a free call from your wireless phone). Another possible cause is that your phone is on the wrong System Select (an internal setting, easily changed). Helpful Tips:

Go into your phone's settings. Find System Select and choose the Home or Home Only setting (may not work on all phones).

Find out if your home service area is A-Side or B-Side and set your System Select accordingly.

Check your phone's manual for instructions on setting the System Select.

If you still need help, contact your phone's manufacturer, or press *611 (a free call from your wireless phone) to contact a Verizon Wireless customer service representative.

How do I place calls when roaming in the United States?

In most areas, simply dial the area code and number for both long distance and local calls. In some areas, you may need to dial a "1" before the area code and number.

Why does it take up to two billing statements for all of my roaming charges to appear?
Some carriers take up to 45 days to forward roaming charges to our company. Therefore, there may be a delay in billing roaming charges resulting in charges to customers appearing on multiple billing statements.
