Can I use my Verizon Wireless cellular phone to make international calls?
Yes, you can direct-dial international calls to many countries from your cellular phone if you are on a calling plan that allows it. In some markets, you may have to contact Customer Service and specifically request it. Pre-paid plans generally are restricted from direct-dial international calling.

Direct-dial international calling to some countries may be restricted due to a variety of reasons. However, you may always place an international call from your cellular phone using a calling card.

How do I place an international call from my Verizon Wireless phone?
Direct-dial international calls are placed in a similar manner to domestic long distance calls. An international phone number is generally made up of a country code, a city code and the local exchange number.

To place a call outside of the US, you must start with 011. Next, you must use the country code, and then the number you wish to reach. You can find a list of country codes in the information pages of your local telephone directory.

For example, if you would like to call a number in France, first use 011, then the country code 33, then you enter the phone number and then press SEND.

How much will I pay for an international call from my cellular phone?
International rates depend on several factors, so it's impossible to know exactly what you'll pay per minute. When calling from the cellular phone, remember that airtime always applies, and is charged in addition to the international long distance rate. The international long distance rate depends on time of day and country from which the call is placed, the country to which you are calling, and the domestic long distance carrier you use.

I am unable to place an international call from my cellular phone. What should I do?
First, determine if your plan will allow you to directly dial the country to which you are calling. If the call does not go through, and you get a message advising you that the call is restricted or blocked, you will need to use a calling card to place the call from your cellular phone.

If you get a dialing error message rather than a restricted message, consult the information pages of your local telephone directory to confirm you are using the correct country code.

Are you using the full phone number? Typically, international phone numbers consist of the country code, the city code and the local exchange number. You must dial 011 before the number when placing an international call from the United States.
